Starting this week, Millbank will have a choice for fine dining. Longtime residents Edward Barf and wife Lana Mariposa-Barf will open their new restaurant in the space formerly occupied by Gal on the Go Discount Fashions at the corner of Main Street and Main Avenue.Dslicious Barf Food Dining

Edward Barf is known to many in Millbank as the former executive chef at Adolf's Irish Pub, where he introduced such menu items as Chinese Mac and Cheese and the Szechuan pickled eggs. He also led the local campaign that convinced the First Church of God to change the oil each year for its weekly fish fry and for organizing the "Taste of Millbank" food carnival held each August.

At their new eatery, the Barfs promise delicious and hot meals unlike Millbank has ever seen. "We saw a need for a place where the city's more tasteful diners could go. This will be true fine dining using vegetables that don't come from the freezer and sea salt instead of regular old salt," said Edward. "When the food arrives, it will look like you see on those TV shows where the host takes one taste and his knees go weak."

"Edward chose the name Barf Cafe, not me." Lana told the Millbank Daily-Weekly, "We recognize that the name may have negative connotations when associated with food, but Edward believes  we're catering to a higher class of customers who aren't bothered by something as trivial as a name.

"I think my old customers know the name Barf is synonymous with good eating," said Edward. "We even have a slogan: Fine food, coming up!"

Lana added, "His idea, not mine."
