MILLBANK – From Friday, August 17th through Saturday the 25th, Millbank will showcase the eateries that have made it a culinary mecca throughout the Tri-City Area. Restaurants and businesses such as the Koffee Klatch, the Pastry Chalet and the Barf Bistro will offer special selections and outdoor seating during the “A Taste of Millbank” festival.

Those wishing to sample the delicious bounty simply need to purchase tickets from a Millbank Booster Club member or from any of the participating businesses. The tickets, which cost $15.00, function as “punch cards”, so that ticketholders can visit each food booth once. “We want everyone to have a good time with all of this delectable food,” said Booster Dora Thorstaad, “but limiting the number of visits and the portion size will prevent outright gluttony. We don’t want gluttons in Millbank.”

Even if you’re not a glutton, the menu looks enticing. The Koffee Klatch is offering samples of its famous “koffee”, turkey club sandwiches and peach kuchen, while Golden $1.35 A Scoop has savory egg drop soup on tap. Even our local senior center, Downhill Moderate Senior Living, has a tent hawking butterscotch pudding. Residents are already salivating buckets. “I guess I’ll probably go, even if the only place I haven’t already eaten the entire menu is the Barf Bistro. I just can’t bring myself to…never mind,” says resident Kevin Mills.

Food tents will be open from 12:00 noon through 8:00 pm during each day of the festival. Live music will also be performed in Ottoman Park by Stu and His Millbank Magic and the Millbank Middle School Choir each evening at 5:30 pm. At 2:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, Chef Edward Barf from the Barf Bistro will offer live cooking demonstrations as well. Anyone with an empty belly in Millbank this week only has himself to blame.
